TruEconomy and Gambro successfully finalized Supply Chain Improvement Project

April 27st, 2009 -  In February 2009 Gambro and TruEconomy finalized a big Gambro initiative to improve their supply chain planning process. In this project Gambro and TruEconomy jointly looked at the supply chain planning solution, using i2 Demand Manager and i2 Supply Chain Planner solution,

The project
Based on predefined improvement areas the project started with a four weeks assessment to determine the way for forward for each improvement area. A plan was created to implement new planning functionalities, improve the system performance and system integration and update the supply chain model to the actual situation. During the project the diverse changes were implemented and after the eight months all improvements were rolled out.

The results
Gambro defined a so-called ‘benefit-card’ to measure the success afterwards. Goals were set for service levels, backorders and express shipments. The first results look very good and all the pre-defined targets are met which means the project gained a lot of value for Gambro. The general feedback from the steering committee on the TruEconomy expertise, project management and consultants was very positive. On the effort done by the TruEconomy team Martin Richardson, Director Supply Chain Management for Gambro told us "We are very pleased with TruEconomy's performance in the project and service. There has been a tremendous improvement and I think all of you are very professional in everything you do."

Apart from the achieved business goals the i2 user community, around 120 users world wide, gave very positive feedback on the increased system performance, new planning functionalities and system reliability. All these improvements decrease the time to do data crunching and waiting time and make the solution a true exception based supply chain management solution.

Outsourced support
Besides the improvement project Gambro also outsourced the support of the supply chain solutions to the TruEconomy Nearshoring centre in Greece. TruEconomy increased the service level of the support with almost 20% during the project. This is a major achievement keeping in mind that during the improvement project the system usage and complexity increased significantly.
